The Tides_Earth Day Art Model (2022) by Se-Lien Chuang
electroacoustic composition with video

I was fascinated of the High Tides, the Low Tides and the Menai Singing Bridge in Bangor 2012.

But the beauty of the nature would not be sustainable in the near future, if the global warming and climate change are not taken seriously into account by the people.

The technique of comb filter - a delay of the sound itself causing the constructive and destructive interference - is predominantly applied in this composition for implying that the causality of what the people do to themselves.

The instrumental sounds are based on the recording of my composition „The Tides“ (2012) première on the 20th June 2012 with the former PPCM (now the Ensemble Schallfeld based in Graz/Austria)
Zinajda Kodrič, Elisa Azzarà - Flöte
Federica Ragazzi - Fagott
Matej Bunderla - Saxophon
Myriam García Fidalgo - Violoncello
Margarete Maierhofer-Lischka - Kontrabass

The photos are taken during the residence at the INTER/actions symposium in Bangor/UK 10. -12. April 2012

This composition is dedicated to Earth Day Art Model 2022 and is in remembrance of Taishan 泰山.
